Glory be to Allah
How to Use This Tasbih Counter
- Choose a dhikr from the list at the top, or pick "Custom dhikr" and type your own.
- Set a target: 33, 99, 100, 500, 1000, or ∞ for no limit.
- Tap the big button once for each recitation. The ring fills as you go, and your phone gives a small vibration on each tap and a longer one when the target is reached.
- Undo removes the last tap if you pressed by mistake; Reset starts the round again.
- Your count, rounds and daily total are saved on your phone, so you can close the page and continue later.
The Tasbih Fatimi option walks you through 33 SubhanAllah, 33 Alhamdulillah and 34 Allahu Akbar in order, moving to the next dhikr automatically. "Keep screen on" stops your phone from locking while you count.
What Is Tasbih?
Tasbih means glorifying Allah by saying SubhanAllah, and the word is also used for dhikr in general and for the string of beads used to count it. A tasbih counter does the same job as the beads: it keeps the count so that your attention stays on the words rather than on numbers.
Tasbih After Namaz (Tasbih Fatimi)
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: whoever says SubhanAllah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times and Allahu Akbar 33 times after every prayer, making 99, and completes the hundred with "La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadir", his sins are forgiven even if they are like the foam of the sea. (Sahih Muslim: 597)
Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that when Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) asked the Prophet ﷺ for a servant to help with housework, he taught her and Ali instead to say, when going to bed, SubhanAllah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times and Allahu Akbar 34 times, and said this was better for them than a servant. (Sahih al-Bukhari: 3113) This is why the bedtime tasbih is known as Tasbih Fatimi.
Dhikr Included in the Counter
| Dhikr | Meaning | Suggested count |
|---|---|---|
| سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ | Glory be to Allah | 33 after salah |
| الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ | All praise is for Allah | 33 after salah |
| اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ | Allah is the Greatest | 33 after salah, 34 at bedtime |
| لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ | There is no god but Allah | 100 or more |
| أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ | I seek Allah's forgiveness | 100 a day |
| سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ | Glory and praise be to Allah | 100 a day |
| اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ | Durood on the Prophet ﷺ | Any number, more on Friday |
| لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ | No power except with Allah | Any number |
The Prophet ﷺ said that whoever says "SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi" 100 times a day has his sins wiped away even if they are like the foam of the sea (Sahih al-Bukhari: 6405), and that he himself sought Allah's forgiveness 100 times a day (Sahih Muslim: 2702).
Counting on Fingers or on Beads?
The Prophet ﷺ counted tasbih on his fingers and told the companions to do the same, saying that the fingers will be questioned and will speak. (Sunan Abu Dawud: 1501; Jami at-Tirmidhi: 3583) Counting on the fingers is the Sunnah. Beads and counters are tools for keeping track, and most scholars allow them as long as they do not become a show. Use whichever helps you keep your heart on the dhikr; for large numbers, a counter saves you from losing count.
Best Times for Tasbih
- After every fard salah: 33, 33, 33 and the completing La ilaha illallah.
- Before sleeping: 33, 33, 34.
- Morning and evening: SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi 100 times, astaghfar, and the morning and evening adhkar.
- Friday: increase durood on the Prophet ﷺ.
- Any free moment: while walking, waiting or travelling. Dhikr needs no wudu and no fixed place.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a digital tasbih counter allowed?
Yes. It is a counting tool like beads. The reward is for the dhikr, not for the tool. Counting on the fingers remains the Sunnah and is best when the number is small.
Does the counter save my count?
Yes, on your own phone or browser. It is not sent anywhere. If you clear your browser data or use a different device, the count starts from zero.
Why is there no vibration on my phone?
Vibration works on most Android phones. iPhones do not allow websites to vibrate, so use the Sound option instead, or watch the ring.
Can I use it offline?
Once the page has loaded, the counter works without internet until you close the tab. For regular use, add this page to your phone's home screen from the browser menu.
Which dhikr has the most reward?
The Prophet ﷺ said the words most loved by Allah are four: SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, La ilaha illallah and Allahu Akbar (Sahih Muslim: 2137). Start with these.
